It’s that time of year when people start to plant their vegetable gardens. If you always wanted a veggie garden but didn’t know where to start, here are some ideas to help you get started.

Every vegetable garden is different depending on the space that you have available. The key to a successful garden is good plant choices - especially for those with small spaces. Choosing plants that are smaller yet have plenty to harvest will help with the success of your veggie garden. Options for small spaces include barrel or planter garden or adding vegetables to sunny spots in your existing flower beds.

If you have a little bit more space to work with you could build garden boxes (raised or not) to contain your vegetable garden. This will give you a few different spaces to plant your vegetables out and give you the ability to grow larger plants that would out-grow a planter.

Another option to help you maximize your garden space would be to grow a vertical garden. Using a trellis or fence for such as beans, peas, and tomatoes will help you take advantage of your vertical space.

Happy Planting!
